PECHE has collaborated with and been contracted to provide HIV prevention and outreach services
to the high risk African Communities in Atlanta. Using a grant from DeKalb County Board of Health, PECHE
conducted a multi-level prevention intervention approach comprising Community, Group, and Individual level
interventions. These interventions were modified to be culturally relevant and sensitive to the various
DeKalb County African communities’ cultural orientations.
In another project, funded by Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) through its Community Partnership
Development Mini-Grant, PECHE executed a Community Mobilization and Sensitization Campaign that focused on
raising awareness on HIV/AIDS prevention and care among African communities in the Clarkston area of DeKalb
County.
PECHE also collaborates with area hospitals and clinics especially DeKalb County Board of Health where
PECHE clients are referred for a range of health care services including health screenings, immunizations,
risk prevention, health education and nutritional education.
PECHE collaborates with the following community based organizations: Women Watch Afrika, Sudanese Refugees
Women Federation Organization, Somali Community, African churches and mosques to provide various culturally
appropriate risk prevention interventions and risk reduction education.
