About PECHE

Organizational Summary:

The Prevention Effectiveness Consortium on Health and Education (PECHE) is a 501 (c ) (3) Non Profit organization founded in 2002. PECHE was established to promote the implementation of research based public health and education interventions tailored to meet the needs of minorities, with emphasis on the African refugee and immigrant populations in metro Atlanta, Georgia.

Vision:

The Vision of PECHE is to improve the quality of life by reducing health and education disparities among economically disadvantaged minorities, especially the refugee and immigrant populations in metro Atlanta, Georgia.

Mission:

The Mission of PECHE is two fold:

  • To promote health protecting and disease preventing behaviors.
  • To promote quality education.

These will be accomplished through research, educational campaigns, community mobilization and sensitization strategies, cultural competence training for educators and health care professionals and system change initiatives directed toward Federal, State and Local policy makers.

Values:

The Values of PECHE include collaboration, quality of services, trust, sensitivity to diversity, dependability, efficiency, innovation, excellence, effective communications and respect.

PECHE is committed to the promotion of health and education of economically disadvantaged immigrant and refugee populations, the improvement of access to health care and quality education for these populations.

Goals:

Conduct research in public health and education as it relates to minorities especially African refugee and immigrant populations.

Implement effective health intervention strategies among minorities and economically disadvantaged populations.

Improve educational achievement of minorities especially African refugee and immigrant population.

Build the capacity of Community Based Organizations serving minorities and economically disadvantaged populations.
